Initializing Brand Identity: The Pratt Attack Crest

Today marks a significant milestone for Pratt Attack Studios. As we push deeper into the development of Echobound, it became clear that our visual identity needed to reflect the same duality as our game: the intersection of high-fantasy tradition and digital decay.

The Symbolic Duality

The new crest features two primary elements that represent our core narrative pillars:

  • The Cyan Sword: Represents the “Cyber” element—precision, technology, and the sharp edge of systems-level programming in C++.
  • The Purple Staff: Represents the “Fantasy” element—the mystical, the ancient, and the emotional core of our story.

The pixel-art style is a deliberate choice. It honors the 16-bit era that inspired us while maintaining the high-fidelity sharpness expected in a modern 2.5D (HD-2D) experience.

Collaborative Excellence

I had the absolute pleasure of collaborating with @clownnk to bring this vision to life. They took the “Cyber-Fantasy” concept and translated it into a mark that feels both retro and cutting-edge. If you are looking for high-quality pixel art or branding, I highly recommend checking out their work.

The Relocation Journey: Maine to Tampere

This logo is more than just an asset for a game; it is the flag we are planting as we prepare for the studio’s next big chapter. Pratt Attack Studios is currently operating out of the woods of Durham, Maine, but the “Sinking World” of Echobound is being built with a global destination in mind.

Following the launch of Echobound, we will be relocating the studio to Tampere, Finland. This move is a strategic step to integrate into the world-class Finnish game development ecosystem and the Platform6 hub. Establishing a professional visual identity now is the first step in ensuring that when we land in the “Nordic Silicon Valley,” our brand carries the same weight and technical polish as our C++ codebase.

Technical Implementation

From a developer perspective, implementing this was a great exercise in Astro and CSS optimization. We’ve moved to a text-only header for speed and navigation, while the full crest now serves as the “Hero” centerpiece of our homepage.

For the tech-curious: we are using image-rendering: pixelated; to ensure the logo stays razor-sharp on Retina displays, alongside a custom CSS hover animation that mimics a digital power-up.

The journey to Tampere continues. Systems: Operational.
